ASHLYN BARTLETT now calls Charlottetown PEI home after relocating from Moncton NB in 2013. Ashlyn has been dancing for over 15 years. During her journey she has loved spending her time demonstrating and assisting classes and instructing several styles and levels of dance. She has performed as a member of the DancEast Young Company, and has graduated from the Dance Virtuosa Young Company Program. Ashlyn has performed in the Nutcracker production for several years and also as a performance highlight,  she performed at the “Dance The World” Showcase at Walt Disney. Ashlyn looks forward to sharing her love and passion for dance through both instruction and performance.     ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ MEGAN CONNORS is originally from Saint John, NB and now resides here on Prince Edward Island. Megan has had multiple years of experience in dance previous to having moved to PEI and has had much success in the world of competitive dance. Having graduated from the Holland College Dance Performance Program, she then continued on to teach in order to share her knowledge and passion. Some of her performance highlights include Wizard of Oz, A Christmas Carol and the 2013 Young Company. She is always excited to perform for a great cause and a night of fun. For the past year, Megan has been training in Calgary with the Decidedly Jazz Danceworks company. She has now returned to the island where she feels most at home and can't wait to get started with us again. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

LEXI DURANT is an active member of the theatre and dance community on Prince Edward Island and now joins the Dance Virtuosa team of instructors.  Her past experience includes several musical theatres, numerous styles of dance and drama classes along with a variety of camps in the arts. Her strengths are jazz and contemporary, but she also has experience in tap, hip hop, and ballet. She has been dancing for more than ten years, and has studied at the Island Dance Academy, Dance umbrella, Shirley’s Celtic Studio, St. Lawrence College and Dance Virtuosa. She is so excited to share her passion for dance with the students of Dance Virtuosa!


SUSAN HAMMOND-BRUCEan honours graduate of George Brown School of Dance and Applied Arts and Technology (dance program), was born and raised in Ontario. She began dance training at the age of three after watching the National Ballet of Canada’s performance of “Giselle” and being awed by the experience. She received her classical dance training at many of the top dance schools in Canada including: the National Ballet School of Canada, Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, and the Banff School of Fine Arts, studying R.A.D.,  Cecchetti, Vaganova, and Bournoville methods. She studied with leading dance teachers: Betty Oliphant, Lois Smith, Gladys Forrester, Peggy Baker, David Adams, & Earl Kraul.  Susan is a former performing member and choreographer with The Dance Company of Ontario, Ottawa Dance Theatre, and Gladys Forrester’s Dancers.

In 1983, after retiring due to a back injury, Susan moved to the Island where she met her husband, settled in the eastern end of the Island, and began teaching dance in Charlottetown and Souris. She opened Hammond-Bruce Studios, later becoming the Artistic Director of the former 'Les Souris Qui Dansent', a children’s dance company in Souris, P.E.I.  Susan retired from teaching to raise her children but continued directing, co-directing, and choreographing theatre productions for many of the local schools, communities, and churches. She often uses her basic art and sewing training to design and make costumes, backdrops, sets, props, and posters for her productions. In recent years, Susan has added playwright to her list of titles; writing and directing a number of works for the former Eastern Kings Consolidated School, and more recently, successfully writing and directing play productions for Don’t Ye Know Theatre. Susan is the Artistic Advisor and Director of DYKT. She is also working with the Kings Playhouse, Georgetown, staging productions. Although Susan enjoys the many forms and aspects of the performing arts, dance is her love and forte. She is very happy to be returning to the role of dance teacher. Over the years Susan has performed, choreographed, and taught Classical/Lyrical Ballet, Point, Jazz, Modern, Pas de Deux, and Stage Presence.


JANELLE BANKS as been dancing ever since she was 3 and started off doing step, tap and highland. Then as she got older started doing musical theatre and also taking jazz at Dance Virtuosa. Now she enjoys taking ballet, pointe, conditioning, contemporary, jazz and hip-hop from Dance Virtuosa. She is going in her 4th year as a member of the Young Company and has travelled to Moncton and NYC. She is a graduate of the Holland College School of Performing Arts. Performances include Anne & Gilbert 4 seasons , Harbourfront Theatre ,The Holiday Smorgasbord of Joy, Cinderella and Lord What Fools Confederation Centre of the Arts. She Portrayed the role of Anne in the Jonathan Torrens Canada Day 150 special on CBC. Besides performing at various ceilidhs, she also choreographed Children's musicals "The Little Mermaid" , "Sussicel" And "The Wizard of Oz". As a member of several dance teams, as well as an Island Storm Chaser dancer she enjoys performing and choreographing various styles of for competitions and performance.


EMILY CAMPBELL  has a love for dance which began when she was very young. At age three, she started step-dancing and loved to entertain her mother by dancing around the living room to Frank Mills. She branched out to figure skating for a few years, but her passion for dance took over. In 2013, she began taking a couple of classes at Dance Virtuosa. Each year her interest in different disciplines grew to include, ballet, point, contemporary, jazz, conditioning and hip-hop. A few years back Emily began demonstrating and loved assisting classes, that led to becoming a member of the Dance Virtuosa Young Company and Storm Chasers. Dancing has given her confidence, and a venue to express herself. Emily has been part of the Storm Chasers for two years now, and loves performing hip-hop as it is a style she very much enjoys. As well as dancing with the Young Company as she was given the opportunity to travel places, such as Moncton and as far as New York. Emily is excited for the opportunity to teach and share her love of dance with others. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

MYA MACFARLANE has trained for many year in ballet, highland, step, jazz contemporary,and hip hop. She started dancing at the age of 3 training in ballet with the Summerside School of Dance. She enjoyed several years as a competitive dancer and travelled to various places representing PEI, as well as performing in many Celtic production with The College of Piping. She enjoyed performing so much that she decided to join Dance Virtuosa starting off with taking jazz and contemporary. Being so passionate, she decided to become more heavily involved and therefore took every class they offered including joining Dance Virtuosa Young Company. She has demonstrated for many years and has always enjoyed helping teach kids how to dance.
